Frequently Asked Questions

Does it turn on when I open the mailbox door?

The light turns on automatically when it gets dark outside and stays on all night, regardless of whether the door is open or closed. The light is controlled by a dusk sensor, not the door. That means your mailbox is already lit before you ever reach for the handle.

How does the solar panel charge?

The Mailbox Night Light by Steadisense charges itself. The panel sits on the outside top of your mailbox and collects sunlight during the day, which charges the built-in battery. When it gets dark, the light turns on automatically. There is nothing to plug in and nothing to switch.

How long does installation take, and how hard is it?

Less than 15 minutes, in six steps, with no electrical knowledge needed. If you can use a drill and wipe a surface clean, you can do this yourself.

Does installation really require a metal drill?

Yes, a drill and 7/32” metal drill bit required to create a small hole needs to be drilled through the top of the mailbox for the LED to shine through.

Will it fit my mailbox?

The Mailbox Night Light by Steadisense fits standard US residential mailboxes, both the horizontal-slot and front-opening styles. If yours is a standard curbside box on a post, it is made to fit.

Will it work on a plastic or wooden mailbox?

The Mailbox Night Light by Steadisense is made for standard residential curbside mailboxes, and the install needs one 7/32" hole drilled through the top for the solar panel wire. If you are not sure about your box, email support@steadisense.com before you order.

What is the warranty?

Every Mailbox Night Light by Steadisense carries a one-year warranty. If it stops working in the first year, we replace it free.
